Betsy DeVos is an American philanthropist who has dedicated herself to reforming the education system. She strives to ensure that people have improved schools. In the past three decades, Betsy has been running her charity projects with her husband, Dick DeVos, who is a prominent businessman. The two have donated millions of dollars since they started the Dick and Betsy Family Foundation. Betsy has committed herself to making sure that the United States’ education system offers an opportunity for all children to attend the best schools. Her commitment enabled her to be chosen as the education secretary by the Trump administration. She has been using her office to champion policies that ensure the current school system offers equity to all children in the country.
Mrs. DeVos wants to have more parental involvement when selecting the schools that children should attend. She has currently managed to offer opportunities to several students to join learning institutions that can enable them to have a bright future. The system that is currently used in the country allows children to attend schools that are located within their ZIP codes. This law has been worrying many parents who wish to have their children admitted to schools that are better than those that are in their neighborhoods. Betsy has been campaigning for schools vouchers that will allow everyone to have a decent education. Read more about her philanthropy at MLive.
